FISHING
Being an island near the Java trench, with
the "drop off" only kilometers from the beach, makes
this a prime location for fishing and freediving/spearfishing.
|
| Large schools of fish feed and
breed around the unspoilt reefs. During different times of the
year commonly seen and caught fish are: |
giant
travelly, and many other travelly species,
King mackerel, marlin, sailfish,
tuna, wahoo, Mahi Mahi
and numerous reef fish.

SNORKELING
Snorkeling is safe inside the reef as the
water is not too deep, even at high tide. Snorkeling gets
even better just outside the reef, where schools of up to
20 huge manta rays come to feed and swimming among them is
unforgettable. It is advised to bring your own snorkeling
gear to fully experience the marine life.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
There are two canoes which are perfect
for exploring the reefs or for paddle-skiing.
Day trips can be made to the neighbouring
island of Salura, where a small fishing community and its
400 inhabitants live. Salura also has some wonderful beaches. |
